Pakistan Selectors Recall Haris Rauf for New Zealand ODIs

Pakistan selectors have not included veteran players Haris Rauf and all-rounder Shadab Khan for the upcoming T20I tour to Bangladesh. The two Asian rivals are set to play a three-match T20I series, starting on July 20 to 24. These two teams clashed in the month of May for a three-match T20I series, where Pakistan emerged victorious by a 3-0 margin.

Shadab has recently undergone surgery for his shoulder and is currently undergoing rehab. Meanwhile, pacer Rauf is having issues with his hamstring, as he has also missed a few games for San Fransisco Unicorns in the MLC 2025 season. Apart from the duo, Irfan Khan, Hasan Ali, Mohammad Wasim, and Naseem Shah have been overlooked for the T20I series.

The players replacing the dropped players don't bring a huge amount of experience, as they are still finding their feet in international cricket. Ahmed Daniyal, the medium-pace bowler, and Salman Mirza, the left-arm pacer, are still uncapped in international cricket. While Sufiyan Muqeem has just played 10 T20Is. Meanwhile, Hasan Nawaz made his international debut just this year and has featured in 8 T20Is.

Abbas Afridi is the most experienced among the pacers, as he has played 21 T20Is. Selectors have taken into account PSL 2025 performances and have rewarded these players. Afridi was the fourth-highest wicket-taker in the T20 League with 17 wickets from 11 games. Mirza picked up 9 wickets from just four games. While Nawaz was the highest run-scorer overall, scoring 399 runs in 10 innings at a strike rate of 162.19.
