Cricketer-turned-expert Parthiv Patel has stated that India skipper Shubman Gill should not be too deterred by the likely green-top surface for the third Test at Lord's Cricket Stadium against England. The former wicketkeeper-batter stressed that the right-hand batter put a full stop to all the swirling questions about his place in the red-ball format ahead of the five-match Test series.
For the unversed, the right-hand batter has so far scored 524 runs in the two Tests and has so far been the best batter across both teams. However, fingers were pointed at the young captain whether he would score runs on a green pitch at Lord's. Parthiv believes it is unfair on Gill, as he shut the critics already by performing well in the first two Tests. The third Test will be played at Lord's Cricket Stadium, which is comparatively more spicier than the other two venues in England.
During an interaction on the Star Sports 'Follow the Blues' Parthiv was asked if Lord's Test could pose the biggest challenge for India's skipper.

"Before this tour started, everyone had questioned Shubman Gill's form. Everyone thought can he play in SENA countries? Now that he has scored runs, everyone is saying the wickets were not as green as what it's been there in England. It's great to be Shubman Gill right now," he responded.
"After scoring more than 400 runs in a game, people are still questioning your form, whether you can play on a green top or not. Every question is answered brilliantly. He has worked really hard before coming on this tour. If anyone would like to be Shubman Gill, this is the time. You know your process is working. I don't see any reason why it may not work here," Patel observed.
Currently, the five-match Test series is leveled 1-1. The third Test in Lord's could potentially decide which way the series is shaping.
